The practice of Yoga Therapy, known traditionally in India as Yoga Cikitsa, has a history dating back almost two millennia. Over the years it has stood the test of time, gaining widespread acceptance in its homeland as an efficacious modality for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.

However as the interest in and use of traditional health systems has gained momentum in contemporary, Western societies, so has the demand for these traditional systems to be better understood and researched so that their efficacy can be evaluated in a manner more widely accepted in contemporary health-care settings.

In recent years there have been a growing number of studies on the use of Yoga as a therapeutic intervention, both as a stand-alone therapy and as a complementary or adjunctive therapy.

The following are links to either Yoga Therapy research abstracts that can be downloaded or sites containing various bibliographies and other research links.
